Ambrosia maple, also referred to as ‘wormy maple’, is a highly desired variety of maple wood known for its distinct streaks and holes created by Ambrosia beetles. This distinctive appearance is a result of the beetles burrowing into the wood, leaving behind tunnels and eye-catching color patterns.
Despite the presence of ‘vent holes’ from the Ambrosia beetle, the wood maintains its strength and produces a consistent sound, similar to that of the Solid Shell Classic maple snare.
This model series is extremely limited, but it is undeniably a great example of Noble & Cooley’s mastery of the steam bent solid shell.
