Eight “rocket” lugs, first-generation die-cast hoops, three-ply shell with reinforcing hoops, and replacement Rogers snare wires. The snare throw-off is missing the upper arm, and engages with some difficulty, so at the moment the snare tension is setthough this can be remedied with a replacement throw, or possibly some rehabilitation of the existing original one. Condition is really quite good for an 83-year-old instrument, with moderate pitting on the chrome, and aging on the white marine pearl wrap.
This drum’s rich tone, blooming body, and perfectly-timed decay will have you reaching for it often in the studio, and will inspire simplicity and intentionality in your playing. You might even find yourself falling in love.
