Robot Drum Company Shippo Series

The shippo pattern () is a traditional Japanese design featuring interlocking, overlapping circles. The name, derived from the Buddhist term for “seven treasures,” symbolizes unending harmony, peace, and prosperity.

This timeless pattern is created by arranging quarter circles in a repeating, grid-like fashion, giving the impression of repeating petals or fragments of light. It’s a design found on a variety of items, from kimonos and ceramics to architectural kumiko woodwork.

Robot re-imagines this classic geometry in three dimensions, machining the lattice across the entire shell to create a drum that is as visually stunning as it is sonically powerful.

The Build

• CNC Machined Shell: 10-ply maple precision-machined with the intricate Shippo pattern.
• Mass Reduction: Strategic machining lightens the shell, lowering its fundamental resonant frequency to give you a deeper, more resonant tone.
• Machined Vents: The Robot logo is machined directly through the shell, acting as vents that allow the drum heads to breathe freely, which enhances the drum’s response and projection.
• Italian Leather Inlays: The Robot logo is laser-cut from premium Italian leather and meticulously hand-inlaid into the machined shell for a striking, custom finish.
• Hardware: The Robot Lug One lugs are are made of a glass-fiber reinforced composite.These low-mass lugs allow the drum to resonate more fully, maximizing the rich tonal qualities of the machined shell.
• Throw Off: Available with the Robot TO-One composite throw-off.
• Hoops: Stocked with 2.3mm triple flanged hoops.
• Evans Drum Heads: Every Shippo Series drum comes equipped with Evans drum heads, trusted by drummers for their consistent quality and superior performance.
